Talon Esports has a League of Legends team! For those of us who are not familiar with esports, League of Legends (LoL) is considered to be one of the biggest esports games in the world. Last year, at League of Legends World Championship, the biggest LoL event that pits the best teams from each region against each other, offered over $2.2m in prize money. It drew over 1.7m viewers on Twitch, setting a world record and knocking Fortnite’s World Cup off the top spot. Riot, League of Legends developer, sponsors several regional championship organizations including North America’s LCS, South Korea’s CK, Europe’s LEC and LCS, and China’s LPL.
Talon will be participating in the inaugural season of the Pacific Championship Series (PCS) starting February 8th, 2020, which is a merging of the League of Legends Master Series (LMS) and League of Legends Southeast Asia (LST) to help promote and increase the level of competition in the region. This new diverse roster of teams will be spread across multiple countries and cities allowing for cross-regional rivalries. Talon’s bid was accepted by Riot after an extensive multi-month vetting process in accordance with their global league operations policies that are dedicated to ensuring the strength and sustainability of the league. They only invite committed team organizations with responsible financials and mutual understanding of fan focus. Riot is focused on working hand-in-hand with teams to grow their fan bases and improve their competitive ability while unlocking additional financial opportunities.
Talon was founded in 2016 in Hong Kong by a group of passionate gaming enthusiasts. Currently, Talon has its claws in some of the biggest games in esports including Overwatch,
PUBG, Starcraft II, Street Fighter V, and Tekken 7, as well as several mobile games such as Arena of Valor and Clash Royale. Some of Talon’s latest accolades include: 1st Place
Champions at the 2nd season of Overwatch Contenders Pacific, 2019 Street Fighter V PPL Fighter Masters Champion (won by their professional athlete, HotDog29), and 2019 Tekken 7 Masters Champion. One of Talon’s biggest goals for 2020 was acquiring a slot in competitive League of Legends which will expand their global reach and widen their audience. Talon’s new roster comes stacked with high-caliber experience from the LMS, CK, and the LPL to compete next season, and they’re excited to bring a high level of competition to the league for fans all around the world to watch.
